Nel 1987 un gruppo di musicisti tedeschi emerse dalle nebbie e diede vita al progetto MEKONG DELTA.
Per molto tempo le loro identità restarono un mistero e all'epoca di questo album (1988) lo erano ancora. La loro musica è metal, è thrash, è power metal ma è anche progressive e, come accade quando gli estremi si toccano, sconfina nella classica.
Questo è il loro capolavoro, ma non disdegnerei album più recenti dove grandi opere della musica sinfonica (soprattutto Mussorsky) vengono riarrangiate in chiave metal.
Da qualche anno i Mekong Delta non incidono più, non fanno più concerti, non sono più in circolazione.
Nessuno sa che fine hanno fatto i membri della band.

Inauguriamo oggi una nuova rubrica completamente dedicata ai componimenti musicali ispirati, manco a dirlo, ai racconti e all'opera di HPL.
Come si vedrà, molti si sono cimentati, anche nomi di altissimo livello, con risultati alterni ma sempre con quella tensione verso l'assoluto, il non-è-umano e l'innominabile che rende riconoscibilissima l'influenza del solitario di Providence.
Se tanti sono gli artisti, svariati sono i generi, ma quella che presentiamo oggi è un'autentica sfida a chiunque sia amante delle classificazioni.
